About

An AI newsroom that tells you what it costs.

MySmartPress exists for a specific room: a small publishing team where the same three or four people write, edit and sign off everything, and where nobody has a procurement department to argue with about seat licences.

Why this exists

Two things about AI writing tools that nobody says out loud.

One. You are billed for thinking you never see.

Reasoning models work the problem before they answer, and those tokens cost output rates. On the request we publish on the front page, roughly 85% of the bill was deliberation that never reached the article. That is not a scandal — it is how the models work, and the thinking is why the output is good. What is odd is that almost no product shows it to you. We put it on screen while the request runs and in the usage log afterwards, because you are paying for it whether or not anyone draws the bar.

Two. Per-seat pricing taxes the thing you want people to do.

A three-person desk should not pay three times to write one article, and no editor should have to decide whether a freelancer is worth a licence before letting them leave a comment. Billing here is per organisation. One pool, shared, and the cost of adding a colleague is zero. Only the owner can buy or change a plan, so the spending decision stays with the person who has to answer for it.

What we decided

Six rules the product is built on.

Not aspirations. Each of these is enforced somewhere in the code, and each one costs us something — which is how you can tell they are real.

  • Show the thinking

Roughly 85% of what an AI writing tool bills you for is the model thinking, not the words it returns. Most products hide that. MySmartPress puts it on the screen during the request and in the usage log afterwards, because you are paying for it either way.

  • Charge the desk, not the seat

Billing is per organisation. One pool, shared by everyone, so the cost of collaborating is zero and nobody has to decide whether a colleague is worth a licence.

  • Degrade, never destroy

When a plan lapses the organisation drops to free limits and nothing is deleted. Articles past the cap stay readable and editable. Members past the cap keep access. Unused top-up tokens freeze rather than burn.

  • One price, tax included

The figure on the pricing page is the figure charged, with 18% GST already inside it. The base-and-tax split is shown underneath for your records — it is never used to recompute a total.

  • Route by what the job needs

A headline and a 2,000-word investigation are not the same request. Cheap actions run on the cheap model on every plan; the frontier model is reserved for work that earns it.

  • Never index a draft

A shared draft carries a no-index header unconditionally, in every environment. An unpublished article turning up in a search result is worse than anything a public share page could gain from being findable.

Fit

Who this is for, and who it is not.

Telling you it is wrong for you costs us one signup and saves you a month. That trade is obviously worth making.

A good fit

  • A desk of three to ten

Small enough that everyone touches the same piece, big enough that per-seat pricing starts to hurt.

  • Publishing in more than one language

Translation is a first-class action rather than a bolt-on, and the type system is set up for Indian scripts.

  • Anyone who has to explain the AI bill

Per-action metering with thinking broken out, so the month reconstructs from things people actually did.

Look elsewhere

  • A single writer who wants a chat window

You would be paying for organisations, roles and shared allowances you have no use for.

  • A newsroom that needs CMS publishing

MySmartPress finishes the article. Getting it into your CMS is still a copy and a paste.

  • Anyone who needs file exports today

There is no PDF, DOCX, Markdown or HTML download. It is a deliberate omission, not an oversight.
